Leaders of Niger Delta Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCON) led by Bishop Mike Emuh, have asked the federal government to re-direct the allocation of 13 percent derivation by paying directly to the host communities.
The leaders also agreed to support the 10,000 pipeline surveillance initiative of the federal government to be coordinated by the Host communities.
A communiqué issued yesterday by HOSCON’s National Director of Media and Publicity, Prince Monday Whiskey, after their meeting in Abuja, said the direct payment of the 13 percent derivation fund would return peace in the region.
“It was unanimously agreed that for peace to reign supreme in the Niger Delta Region, the Federal Government should urgently redirect henceforth the allocation of 13% derivation fund by paying it directly to the Host Communities.
“The meeting also agreed to support the establishment of 10 modular refineries as approved by the minister of Petroleum Resources,” the communiqué said.
